Rudrakshya is a vibrant and enchanting dance troupe from India consisting of 14 Members that includes Professional Dancers and Musicians along with a world famous GURU (Choreographer). The group guided by Guru Sri Bichitrananda Swain presents a new dimension in Indian classical (Odissi) dance by developing new and innovative choreography.

Yudhisthir Nayak



Sri Yudhisthir Nayak was initiated in the Gotipua tradition at the age of seven. He began his training in odissi dance at the age of fifteen under the tutelage of Guru Bichitrananda Swain with the direct supervision of Guru Sri Gangadhar Pradhan. He has been awarded the senior national scholarship for young talents by the ministry of human resource development in India. He has assisted in a number of new choreographies by his Guru. He has also trained in odissi singing, odissi mardal (percussion) and Chhau Dance.



He has performed in India, Canada and the US. He was a teacher-in-residence at the Center for World Music in San Diego, CA from 2005 through 2007. He is currently on tour in the US, performing as part of the Rudrakshya troupe.

Gayatri Joshi



Gayatri Joshi's Odissi training started in Delhi with Guru Hare Krishna Behera in 1988 and continued for two years. Her training with Guru Jyoti Rout started in 1999. She has performed all over the Bay area including 'San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival', 'Krishna Lila', 'Om Namah Shivaya', 'Jagannath', 'Ya Devi', 'Buddha', 'Amrit Dhara', 'Cosmic Dance' & 'Avatar'. She has also organized and performed in several fund raising programs like 'CRY', 'Ruchika', 'ISKON' & 'EKALA Vidyalaya'

Gayatri is the co-founder of
iGurukul. She is also an active member of the Bay Area Oriya community and she has organized innumerable cultural activities. She has acted and directed plays, folk dances & dance dramas.

She is an engineer with
Hewlett Packard, where she has worked for the last 10 years. Mother of Megha and Vanani, she is married to Manoj Joshi and is a resident of Newark CA.

Gayatri Joshi had her solo debut performance Ranga Puja in Sep 2006 with live musicians from Orissa where she excelled in her Abhinaya pieces Geet Govind & Draupadi.

She has been assisting
Guru Jyoti Rout in teaching the artists of Jyoti Kala Mandir for last five years. In addition she has choreographed and restaged several odissi pieces for the junior & senior artistes of JKM. Her choreographies has own several awards in Bay area.

Anjana Moyee Saikia


Smt. Anjana Moyee Saikia started her career of dance at a very tender age with Sattriya dance style of Assam. She started learning ODISSI under the able guidance of Gorima Hazarika, a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award at Guwahati. She has attended many ODISSI dance workshops under the guidance of Padmabibhushan Guru Late Kelucharan Mahapatra and Guru Murolidhar Majhi of Kolkata. Later she was invited by renowned Danseuse Protima Bedi to NRITYAGRAM, Bangalore, a dance village of Indian classical Dance forms to be a part of their professional dance Ensemble. Anjana has performed extensively in many places of India and abroad. She has performed in dance festivals like Basistha festival, Basant Utsav, Nababarsha Mohotsav, Nritya Pratibha, and Octave Festival-Hyderabad etc. She has also performed in many places of United States like New-York, Florida, Washington, New-Orleans, Rochester, Hampton, Long Island, Maryland as well as Denmark, and Portugal. Anjana is now doing her higher studies of Odissi under the Guidance of Pabitra Pradhan, Bhubaneswar.Anjana has also learned Odissi under Reena Jhana of Kolkata.

Anjana has been trained in Sattriya Dance, a traditional classical form of Assam under Guru Borbayan Ghanakanta Borah, a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. She has performed in innumerable Sattriya dance recitals and won accolades for her aesthetic sense in the dance style.

Aside of dance Anjana is also a stage actor. She has acted in lead characters for many dramas like Purush, Pinjora, Jerengar Sati and has been highly applauded for her performances.

Her passion of dance has also extended to the realm of dance choreography. Anjana has choreographed for many drama productions such as Puppet, Mora Manuh, Aami Puhor Bichari Paalu, Pinjora, etc.

Presently, Anjana is undergoing a research work on indigenous dance forms of Assam in collaboration with Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati. She also holds the honour of being a graded artiste of both Odissi & Sattriya style from Doordarshan .

Anjana holds M.Sc. in Statistics from Gauhati University and at present is working as a Lecturer in the Dept. of Community Medicine, Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati.

Monalisa Ghosh

Monalisa Ghosh, one of the leading exponents of Odissi Dance, choreographer and teacher, won her laurels in the chosen classical dance dialect of India at KalaVikash Kendra, Cuttack in Orissa, where she spent her childhood. Her training under Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra , Smt. Sanjukta Panigrahi, and Guru Ramani Ranjan Jena brought her to the center-stage as a dancer of National and International repute.

Her merit lies in the deft combination of truthfulness to tradition, which accommodates distinct individuality and inspires audiences across continents and cultures. Her dance has been widely acclaimed for classicism, lyricism and spiritual expression.

Monalisa has performed all over India sharing stage with leading maestros, in prestigious dance festivals and conferences of Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi. South and Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad, ICCR New Delhi, National center for Performing arts Mumbai, etc. since the year 1983.She can boast to be the only Odissi dancer of Kolkata presenting at least 50 solo Odissi performances every year in the Western countries and the first to establish a Gurukul named Kalajyoti in Kolkata.

Her lecture – demonstrations abroad since 1991 – widely educated the western audience on the Meditational, philosophical, spiritual, aesthetical and therapeutical value of our Indian classical dance in daily life. Her research and findings on classical dance as a therapy has been published in Stuttgarter Zeitung, the German daily .Her Lecture in Tubingen University, Germany on the therapeutic value of Indian Classical Dance in 1995, received high appreciation from the students and professors.

Twice in a year she conducts intensive workshop in Afro-Asiatic Institute in Vienna and Nritya Vikash School of Odissi dance in The Hague. Her outstanding choreography of Geet Govindam with Dutch students gained praise from the Consulate General of India, Mrs. Kaushik in October 2004. Even in India her choreography based on Rabindranath Thakur’s Bharat Tirtha – An English version ‘ Timeless India’ featured as the special programme of Doordarshan Kolkata’s Independence day presentation.

Monalisa is a senior empanelled artist of ICCR,both as solo a an Examiner of Rabindra Bharati University, a judge of Rajya Sangeet Academy and Yuba Utsab, Head of the Department Dance, Suranandan Bharati and a National Programme grade artist of Doordarshan. She has been awarded the title of Nrutyasri, by Kala Vikash Kendra , Cuttack, Singarmani, by Sur- Singar Samsad, Mumbai and Outstanding young person of Calcutta ’99 by the North Calcutta Jaycees’.
