"Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It's the rhythm of your life. It's the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy." ~Jaques D'ambroise

“Odissi is my release, my escape, my reality. A unique bond with Guru, teacher and friends, I find myself gaining by giving. Hard work and discipline is only a joy to be endured, the experience a privilege.”

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia , Kakoli first started learning Odissi at the age of 8 under the tutelage of Guru Ramli Ibrahim. Since 1998 Kakoli has been training with Bani Ray and Guru Shri Durga Charan Ranbir. Kakoli has consistently learned and trained under the style of the Late Guru Deba Prasad Das for the past 21 years.

Having performed extensively in the tri-state area as well as the southwest, Kakoli performs regularly in England with her sister – Mitali Dev.

Professionally, Kakoli works for The Economist magazine in New York City, and is currently teaching a 10 session Odissi Workshop at Lotus Music & Dance
