Dr. Biswajit Dash
Dr. Biswajit Dash is an accomplished youth Odissi Dancer and disciple of the distinguished maestro Padmavibhushan Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and he has received intense training and guidance under other noted gurus like Guru Ratikant and Smt Sujata Mohapatra. He has been devoting significant time to learning and inculcating the intricacies of this rich art form. He has dedicated himself to carry forth the traditions with perseverance and commitment.
Biswajit’s early training in Odissi under Guru Prahallad Biswal at Tribeni Kala Parishad has enriched his repertoire and instilled in him a desire to explore the multiple layers of Classical Indian Dance further with a deeper understanding of aesthetics and form.
An exponent, teacher and choreographer, Biswajit has regaled audiences in Orissa and India with performances, workshops and lecture-demonstrations for past one decade. Having performed at various prestigious festivals, he has been honoured and felicitated with ‘Nrityashri Samman’ and ‘Utkal Santan Samman’, Orissa.
He was adjudged as the best youth dancer of the Orissa state for the year 2007, by the Govt. of Orissa and also he was selected as the best Classical dancer by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore for the year 2008. Aspiring to create awareness and propagate Odissi dance and music along with other traditional art forms, he has choreographed and presented several compositions on diverse themes. He is also a Dance Therapist and a ‘B’ Grade artist in Doordarshan - Bhubaneswar.
Biswajit’s institution, 'Dr. Biswajit Dash Centre for Odissi Dance and Culture' continues to embellish the scenario of Odissi art and Culture with talented youngsters. At present, Biswajit is persuing his Master’s degree in Ayurveda Medicine in Panchakarma subject under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and rendering healthcare services to the ailing aged persons.
